Thus, the \u201cNature Restoration Law aims to improve soil health, clean our rivers and oceans, to reverse biodiversity loss\u201d – as the European Parliament<\/strong><\/em><\/a> wrote, \u201ca new law to restore ecosystems for people, the climate and the planet\u201d.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Two days ago, Frans Timmermans, Executive Vice-President for the “EU GreenDeal” at European Commission, shared: \u201cWe did it \ud83d\udc1d\ud83c\udf33\ud83c\udf3b!\u201d as it \u201cpassed a major hurdle in the European Parliament\u201d in Strasbourg – or, as THE GUARDIAN<\/em><\/strong><\/a> reports, the \u201cEU passes nature restoration law in knife-edge vote\u201d (<\/span>source<\/a><\/em>).\u00a0\u00a0<\/span>The Nature Restoration Law<\/strong><\/a> will place \u201crecovery measures on 20% of the EU\u2019s land and sea by 2030, rising to cover all degraded ecosystems by 2050\u201d. It is the \u201cfirst continent-wide, comprehensive law of its kind\u201d and a \u201ckey element of the <\/span>EU Biodiversity Strategy<\/a>\u00a0<\/em><\/strong>(<\/span>source<\/a><\/em>).\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>

Because of the \u201calarming decline\u201d of Europe\u2019s nature, the European Parliament<\/a><\/em><\/strong> reminds everyone that \u201cEurope is home to very diverse ecosystems and habitats that are crucial to not only our way of life but also our survival. Yet 80% of these precious habitats are in poor shape and in need of recovery.\u201d But by \u201cRestoring wetlands, rivers, forests, grasslands, marine ecosystems, and the species they host will help<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
