World Water Day 2024<\/strong><\/p><\/h3><\/div>

Since 1992, World Water Day<\/em><\/strong><\/a> has been celebrated annually on March 22nd. It aims to “annually remind us of the importance of water as the most essential resource for all life”<\/a> and raise awareness of the issue. In 2024, the theme “Leveraging Water for Peace”<\/a><\/em><\/strong> was declared. United Nations Water<\/a><\/em><\/strong> and UNICEF<\/a><\/em><\/strong> called for “letting peace be our guiding principle”<\/a> and using water as “a tool for peace and harmony”<\/a> on World Water Day.<\/p>\n<\/div>

For Viva con Agua<\/em><\/strong><\/a>, World Water Day is the “most important holiday”<\/a>. However, they don’t only raise awareness on this special day: #waterisahumanright<\/a>. This human right was recognized by the United Nations in July 2010 and is also reflected in the \u201eSustainable Development Goals\u201c (SDGs)<\/em><\/strong><\/a>, specifically SDG 6 <\/em><\/strong><\/a> – Clean Water and Sanitation. “To address the global challenges in its implementation […], the UN-Water Decade was decided upon in the 66th United Nations General Assembly”<\/a>, which will continue until March 22, 2028.<\/p>\n<\/div>

Clean Drinking Water<\/strong><\/p>\n

Viva con Agua advocates for global access to clean drinking water<\/a>. Since its inception, the organization \u2013 together with partner organizations and other funding partners \u2013 has already “positively changed the living conditions of over 3.8 million people”<\/a>. The vision: “Water for all \u2013 all for water.” However, 703 million people worldwide still lack access to secure clean drinking water, of which approximately 411 million people lack access to any drinking water infrastructure<\/a>.<\/p>\n

But “clean drinking water improves and protects health, allows children to attend school permanently, strengthens the local economy, and enables a better future<\/a>“.<\/p>\n<\/div>

Water is Life.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Water is the basis of all life and is one of the four basic elements.<\/a>
\nAnother elemental necessity: air. We cannot survive without oxygen. Therefore, we are delighted that on this World Water Day, Green City Solutions’ Fresh Air Mission intersects with Viva con Agua’s Water Mission, and together with the climate-positive advertising network climAD<\/em><\/strong><\/a> , we are spreading the campaign \u201eWater is a human right”<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<\/div>
