Green City Solutions and Baytree set new standards for sustainable logistics real estate

We are delighted to announce the first installation of a CityTree in a UK logistics real estate project – in partnership with our renowned partner Baytree. This innovative project marks an important milestone for sustainable urban development and cleaner air in city environments.

A strong signal for sustainable logistics

With the installation of the CityTree at the Baytree Leeds project, a strong signal is being sent for innovative air purification and sustainable urban development. The CityTree acts as a bioactive moss filter, removing particulate matter, nitrogen oxides, and CO₂ from the air, thereby noticeably improving air quality and the quality of stay on site. At the same time, natural evaporation provides a significant cooling effect for the surrounding air.

Our CEO Peter Sänger sums it up in his LinkedIn post: “Super! The use of our Hashtag#CityTree in a logistics development project helps to improve sustainability.”

Our fresh air concepts strengthen ESG and sustainability reporting and offer a wide range of additional benefits.

Impressive impact: Focus on air purification and biodiversity

Casey Ferguson, Development Manager at Baytree, highlights the importance of the CityTree in his LinkedIn-Post:”

“🌞 Sun’s out today at Baytree Leeds! […]

🌳 The CityTree you see in the first picture isn’t just eye-catching—it’s working hard behind the scenes. This moss biofilter installation helps tackle urban air pollution, with the capacity to purify 43 million m³ of air annually—that’s the equivalent of 81 trees working full time to clean the air!”

The innovative moss filter is not the only sustainable initiative at Baytree Leeds:

„🌱 Across the site, we’ve delivered a 196% Biodiversity Net Gain, including a net increase of 236 trees. It’s all part of our commitment to enhancing local ecology and creating places that are indigenous to their environment.

At Baytree, sustainability isn’t just a tick box—it’s built into the fabric of every project.”

Looking back: Successful partnership at BUILDINX 2024

We are proud of our long-standing and diverse partnerships – as diverse as our products themselves.
Already in November 2024, we presented together with Baytree at the BUILDINX trade fair in Dortmund how logistics properties can be designed to be future-proof and particularly sustainable. “Follow your nose to the fresh air oasis”: Back then, our CityBreeze was in the spotlight – another innovative moss filter product from Green City Solutions.
