USE CASES

Air pollution is a global problem that affects all segments of society. In order to make urban life healthier and greener, many people must work together.

Our approaches are diverse and reflect various aspects of urban life. They range from the real estate sector and urban neighborhood development to the ESG practices of companies and events, as well as schools, cities, and municipalities. Our goal is to quickly introduce as much active mossy area into the city as possible, for the benefit of both people and the climate!

“In our company, we manufacture fire-resistant systems for industrial furnaces. The processing of refractory materials results in a high level of fine dust emissions, which, unfortunately, cannot be entirely eliminated. Additionally, the area around the large furnaces can get quite warm, especially during the summer. In September 2021, as a pilot project in our furnace operation, the CityTree was newly installed to reduce fine dust pollution and simultaneously lower the ambient temperature. Employees were thrilled with the noticeably improved air quality and the cooling effect provided by the CityTree.”

“It has a door and inside there are lots of pipes. They help the moss to water itself! Our city tree is so special because our plants and animals are very important to us and pollution could kill all these species. We don’t want that because they are so important to our planet.”

“How does one create durable buildings and resource-efficient living spaces while simultaneously maintaining a pleasant atmosphere? Our new construction project on Eichbuschallee revolves around precisely these questions. Not only has a wooden facade been created to enhance the visual appeal and provide a comfortable living environment, but also the CityTree—a ‘urban tree’—contributes to a favorable living climate in our courtyard!”

“Sustainability, for us, also means reimagining neighborhood development. Our focus is on the holistic development of modern neighborhoods that contribute to improving the carbon footprint through the use of green technology. At the same time, they should be places where people feel completely comfortable. With CityBreeze, we have added a building block to the ongoing development of the Plagwitzer Höfe that has a positive impact on the climate.”

“We decided to deploy a CityBreeze in Bestensee for several reasons. Firstly, it’s an efficient way to integrate effective greenery in a busy location in the town center where we don’t have suitable space for more trees and shrubs. Secondly, it serves as a vibrant platform for communication and cooperation, promoting local structures in Bestensee. This allows us to implement digitalization as sustainably as possible. By adopting such a concept, we are sending a clear message: Something significant is happening here.”

The Bio-Moss Filter CityBreeze is located at the Shell gas station in Wildau in Brandenburg. The living mosses in the CityBreeze can capture and metabolize soot particles as well as harmful gases and convert harmless biomass. The natural cleaning power is enhanced and stabilized through the use of smart sensors, irrigation, and ventilation.
