Germany’s Most Innovative Companies 2026

If cities are to remain livable, they need more than just good intentions – they need scalable solutions. The fact that Green City Solutions develops exactly these kinds of solutions has now been confirmed once again by one of Germany’s most prestigious innovation studies: In the latest ranking by Capital and Statista, we have been named one of Germany’s most innovative companies for the repeated time.

In the study’s seventh year, we once again achieved outstanding ratings in the category Energy and Environment for companies with up to 250 employees. We are particularly proud of receiving the maximum five-star rating in the categories “Innovation Area” and “Recommendation Reasons”. Our technological depth has also been confirmed: in terms of patent relevance, we achieved the highest score for “particularly relevant patents”.

What sets the Capital and Statista study apart

The annual analysis evaluates the innovative strength of companies in Germany across all industries. 2,785 innovation experts provided their assessment of which firms are particularly forward-thinking in terms of products, processes, and cultural or social innovations – and Green City Solutions is once again part of this leading group.

The recognition as one of the most innovative companies is based on a multi-stage methodology:

• 2,785 executives and subject matter experts were surveyed,
• companies were evaluated in areas including products & services, processes, and cultural and social innovation,
• only companies that achieve an overall rating of four or five stars make it into the exclusive ranking.

For us, this result is an important signal: our nature-tech solutions are not only being deployed in the market but are also perceived as pioneering by independent experts.

Innovation at the intersection of nature and technology

Our Fresh Air Concept starts where urban challenges are greatest: at local air pollution hotspots and urban heat islands. These innovative solutions naturally cool the ambient air by up to 4 Kelvin (°C) and filter up to 82% of fine dust. Thanks to integrated sensor technology, we make this performance measurable in real time.

A positive outlook on Germany as an innovation hub

“Is the innovative strength of the German economy really in as bad a state as some debates about Germany as a business location suggest?”

The current study by Capital and Statista “suggests a more positive view of things: 503 companies were included in this year’s list of ‘Germany’s Most Innovative Companies’ – twelve fewer than in the previous year”. Among them, 149 149 candidates received the top rating of five stars. “The selection […] covers 20 sectors and industrial areas, from the automotive industry and the chemical sector to energy and environment”, from which 2,785 innovation experts selected the most innovative from a total of 2,305 candidates.

“Despite the slight decline in the number of companies considered particularly innovative, sentiment among experts has improved. 31.6 percent of them say that the environment for innovation has improved over the past twelve months. In the previous year, only just under twelve percent held this view. […] The pessimists cite regulatory framework conditions (38.6 percent) as the main cause of deterioration. This is followed by economic expectations (26.7 percent)”.
