This is exactly what the Federal “Blauer Kompass” Award recognizes: Projects that drive concrete progress for climate resilience in Germany. This year, Green City Solutions is among the 25 nominated projects – and for the Community Award, every vote counts.
We are delighted to announce that Green City Solutions has been nominated as one of 25 projects for the Federal “Blauer Kompass” Award 2026. We are competing in the category “Private and Municipal Enterprises” with our entry: “Moss-based climate resilience: bio-digital solutions for heat and pollutant reduction.”

“Blauer Kompass”: Anniversary & Record Participation
The Federal “Blauer Kompass” Award is “the highest state recognition for projects demonstrating exemplary precaution and adaptation to the consequences of the climate crisis”.
This year, the award celebrates its “tenth anniversary and records an overwhelming participation record: With 488 entries, the highest number of applications to date was reached by a wide margin, marking a new milestone. Now, 25 outstanding projects have been nominated for the Federal Award”. Before the expert jury selects the category winners, the public is invited to vote for the Community Award from June 16 to June 23, 2026.
Our Nomination: “Moss-based climate resilience: bio-digital solutions for heat and pollutant reduction”
Green City Solutions is nominated in the category “Private und and Municipal Enterprises” with the project “Moss-based climate resilience: bio-digital solutions for heat and pollutant reduction”. This allows us to bring our fresh air concept to where cities need it most: air pollution hotspots and urban heat islands.
Our approach combines natural mosses with technology: We utilize the natural capabilities of mosses and integrate them with innovative technology. The impact is measurable: Our moss-based fresh air concepts can cool the ambient air by up to 4 Kelvin (°C) and filter up to 82% of fine dust from the surrounding air.

The fact that our journey is once again gaining visibility at the federal level as a climate adaption solution and has become part of the “Tatenbank” (database of actions) is a strong signal for us: nature-based innovation and measurable impact belong together.
