GreenTech(-Atlas) 2025: ”Boom Despite Crisis”

The GreenTech Atlas 2025, compiled by Prognos AG on behalf of the German Environment Agency (Umweltbundesamt) and the BMUKN, provides a comprehensive analysis of the GreenTech sector in Germany.

Jannis Lambert, Principal at Prognos AG, wrote on LinkedIn that UBA President Dirk Messner described the new GreenTech Atlas 2025 as “a study that inspires confidence”.

Als eine „Mutmacherstudie“, schreibt Jannis Lambert, Principal der Prognos AG, auf LinkedIn, so habe UBA-Präsident Dirk Messner den neuen GreenTech Atlas 2025 bezeichnet.

The report impressively demonstrates how green technologies and innovations are becoming engines of growth and job creation for the German economy. The GreenTech sector is growing significantly faster than traditional industries and is a key driver for climate and environmental protection, resilience, and the competitiveness of Germany as a business location (source: UBA).

Federal Environment Minister Carsten Schneider: “Climate and environmental protection strengthen prosperity in our country and boost the innovative power of companies.”

In addition to the welcome address by Federal Environment Minister Carsten Schneider, participants experienced an exclusive interview with the President of the German Environment Agency, Prof. Dr. Dirk Messner, a panel discussion moderated by Julia Vismann on the potential and global significance of green technologies with Dirk Messner, Sofie Geisel, and Julian Nuss, as well as a keynote by Kristina Jeromin on the role of the financial sector in sustainable transformation.

Innovation Pitch: Moss Filters for Improved Air Quality in Cities

Another highlight of the conference was the innovation pitches, where Peter Sänger presented the bio-digital solutions from Green City Solutions. These innovative and natural air coolers and filters combine the power of moss with IoT technology, enabling measurable improvements in air quality and quality of stay in urban areas. In doing so, they make an important contribution to urban climate adaptation and the sustainable transformation of cities.

Peter Sänger emphasized in his conclusion:

“The GreenTech sector is a growth engine and job creator – and with the Atlas, it has received a great new framework. The conference at the Federal Ministry for the Environment, with its inspiring impulses, gave me a lot of motivation and showed that a lot is happening – including many things we don’t see or hear about every day. From established companies that innovate to start-ups that create entirely new solutions and thus help shape the future. That gives hope and courage!”
