Fresh air at Lyric Square in London

The award-winning Hammersmith “Summer Festival  is in full swing” – with a lot of cool and clean air, thanks to our mosses!

Now in its 16th year, Hammersmith BID will “be bringing you an eclectic mix of live Wimbledon, film nights, musical performances and wellbeing activities, with a few surprises thrown in too”.  Last week, they “celebrated London Climate Action Week in Lyric Square” with a wide range of activities “from FREE bike checks to Wildflower Planting and everything in between”. They “will continue the fun throughout the week[s]”: As “the Big Screen is back, kindly sponsored by Livat Hammersmith”, there will be a lot of entertaining, movie nights – and sports at Lyric Square, Hammersmith. The Wimbledon Championships 2023 started yesterday! As the Hammersmith & Fulham Council reported, the big screen has returned “with all the action live every day” including the Ladies’ and Mens’ Singles finals during the Championships 2023 from 3 to 16 July.

So, if you are close to Lyric Square, follow Hammersmith BID’s call: “Grab a deckchair and catch every shot. Entry is free” – just as the cool and purified air around the CityTree. Since 2020, “Air-filtering moss means pollution loss for Lyric Square” as the biotech filter is part of a pilot project to improve and upgrade the neighbourhood by Hammersmith & Fulham Council. “We’re investing in the most innovative technologies to clean our air and make the borough greener and more pleasant”, said Cllr Wesley Harcourt, H&F Cabinet Member for Environment right after the installation took place.
