Green City Solutions on ZDF’s “heute – in Deutschland”

As urban heat islands grow and air quality deteriorates, cities need innovative solutions, that deliver immediate impact. This was precisely the focus of the segment “Moss saves Cities” on ZDF’s news magazine „heute – in Deutschland“ (“today – in Germany”), where a camera team took a behind‑the‑scenes look at our work – essentially “Behind the Greens”.

Our vision: cleaner, cooler air exactly where people need it most – in very limited space and with maximum impact. Our bio-digital moss filters clean the surrounding air without producing waste while cooling it at the same time – a key building block for improved air quality, enhanced comfort in public spaces, and effective urban greening in our cities.

“An Innovative Product for an Innovative Municipality”

We were particularly pleased by the support from the municipality of Bestensee in Brandenburg – represented by Mayor Roland Holm. Speaking on site at the municipality’s CityBreeze installation, he emphasised:

“This is an innovative product and we also want to be an innovative municipality. That’s why we said: we want to have this here, clearly visible to everyone.”
– Mayor Roland Holm, Bestensee (ZDF segment „Moos rettet Städte“)

On Facebook he wrote: “Germany is taking notice of our municipality. ZDF is reporting on the company ‘Green City Solutions’, based here in Pätz. From minute 11:57 onwards, the report focuses on our municipality. Green City Solutions, thank you for your commitment.”

This is how municipalities, together with innovative companies and solutions, can take concrete and visible steps towards sustainability, greener urban spaces, and improved air quality and comfort – not just in theory, but directly on the ground.

„Behind the Greens“ in Bestensee

he ZDF reporting and camera team visited us in Brandenburg last week to take a “Behind the Greens” look behind the scenes of our work. The occasion was the UN Climate Conference in Belém 2025 (COP 30), which concludes today. heute – in Deutschland focuses on „die Themen, die Deutschland bewegen“. For us, it is a strong confirmation that our environmental technology and our fresh-air concept are part of this selection: it shows that climate-effective urban space design has firmly entered the public mainstream.

We would like to thank the team at ZDF’s “heute – in Deutschland”, Mayor Roland Holm and the municipality of Bestensee – and all our partners who are working with us to help our cities breathe more easily again.
