The “Future of the Construction Industry”

VISIONALE 2025 in Weimar impressively demonstrated how the future of the construction industry, housing and urban development can be shaped sustainably. More than 350 guests from architecture, the construction sector, politics, and science gathered at the congress centrum weimarhalle to work together on solutions for the challenges of climate change, resource scarcity, and urban quality of life. Green City Solutions, represented by CEO Peter Sänger, was right in the middle of it all – presenting our bio-digital innovation for enhanced urban well-being.

Where the Future Takes Shape: The NEW bauhaus Thuringia

Under the motto „Where the future takes shape“ , wurde das Zukunftsprojekt NEW bauhaus Thüringen erstmals öffentlich erlebbar. Ministerpräsident Mario Voigt betonte die Bedeutung Thüringens als Innovationsstandort, der Impulsgeber für neue Ideen sei und so die Zukunft sichtbar machen könne. VISIONALE 2025 was more than just an industry gathering: It was a true laboratory for the future of building culture, architecture and society. From the inspiring opening to the interdisciplinary LABs, key questions were at the center

How do we respond to climate change? Which innovations are driving a sustainable construction industry? How can building culture create real societal value?

Industry Presents: Building Materials of the Future

During the session „Industry Presents: Building Materials of the Future“ , our CEO Peter Sänger introduced our innovative moss filter technology. These bio-digital moss modules filter fine dust, cool the environment, and improve air quality – making a significant contribution to livable, resilient cities.

Peter Sänger demonstrated how nature-based solutions and digitalization go hand in hand to sustainably improve air quality in cities. The future of the construction industry lies in sustainable, nature-based solutions that combine digitalization and ecology.

Exchange at Eye Level: Innovation Meets Practice

VISIONALE brought together leading minds from research, development, and industry. Alongside Green City Solutions, companies such as DuraHemp, ZÜBLIN, NiTO Holzstein, ZinCo, and GOLDBECK also presented their solutions for sustainable construction.

The mix of established players and innovative start-ups made the exchange especially valuable – asStefan Merkle from Immobilien Zeitung highlighted:

„The kick-off in the Bauhaus city was rather exclusive, but collaborative, with a long list of prominent figures from architecture and politics. Also present were […] several start-ups such as DuraHemp GmbH i. Gr., NiTO Holzstein GmbH, and Green City Solutions GmbH.“

Impulses for the Construction Transition

VISIONALE 2025 showed that the construction industry is ready for change. The discussions did not remain mere visions but led to concrete ideas and new networks. Star architect Matthias Hollwich summed it up: „It’s not a twilight of the gods, but a new beginning.“

For Green City Solutions, the event was a complete success: We were able to expand our network, gain valuable insights, and further advance our mission to make cities more livable and sustainable.

VISIONALE was just the beginning – the journey continues. The NEW bauhaus initiative is already working on the next steps, including the Manifesto and the major Festival in 2026. Stefan Merkle emphasizes: „The project is part of the New European Bauhaus (NEB) initiative, which is currently preparing for Expo 2025 in Osaka. The conclusion is planned for November 2026 with a combination of congress, trade fair, and festival in Erfurt.“

We are convinced: Sustainable urban development needs green, innovative solutions – for clean air, better quality of life, and a greener future.
