Advertising with Real Impact: Sustainability and Technology
Advertising can be much more than a tool to capture attention – it can deliver real value. This was demonstrated by the collaboration between the ChanceMaker Foundation, Green City Solutions, and climAD, as well as the campaign that appeared in December in cities such as Berlin, Bremen, Leipzig, Stuttgart, and Cologne. The CityBreeze fresh air filters, featuring integrated moss modules on one side and large digital screens on the other, are more than traditional advertising media. They are, as Patrick Knodel put it, “more than just advertising spaces”.
While the “innovative CityBreeze screens” share crucial messages – such as those from the ChanceMaker Foundation advocating for a fairer and more sustainable world – they simultaneously enhance well-being in shopping centers and urban areas by filtering pollutants from the air and cooling it at the same time.
The December campaign stands as a strong example of how advertising can be both impactful and sustainable. Furthermore, during the Christmas season, the ChanceMaker Foundation doubled all donations received, ensuring they “went 200% toward supporting […] our inspiring ChanceMaker initiatives around the globe.”

Shaping the Future Together
The vision behind this collaboration is clear: to raise awareness for a fair and livable world where everyone can lead a self-determined life within the planet’s ecological limits. This mission connects the efforts of the ChanceMaker Foundation, which advocates for social justice and equal opportunities, with the innovative technologies of Green City Solutions and climAD. This is made possible, in part, through INNOVATION for IMPACT GmbH, which places sustainability and impact at the core of its work.

For 2023, they presented “numbers that change lives”: The “2023 Impact Report” highlights the following achievements: “70,700 people given new opportunities for life, 3,000 hectares of land protected, 16,600 young people with access to relevant education, 6,425 small farmers with increased income opportunities, 35,751 people with sustainable livelihoods, and over €1 million allocated to ChanceMaker initiatives worldwide”.
