Green City Solutions” in the “Bundesverband Nachhaltige Wirtschaft e.V.”

The impulse to combine ecology, social aspects, and economy is a significant component of our mindset at Green City Solutions, aiming to develop creative and effective solutions for the challenges of the present and future. This is reflected in our multifunctional products, where we connect nature – in the form of mosses and their natural capabilities – with state-of-the-art Internet of Things sensors, as well as active ventilation and irrigation technology.

“The Voice of Sustainable Business”

The Bundesverband Nachhaltige Wirtschaft e.V. was founded in 1992 under the name UnternehmensGrün (translated as “corporate green”), also with the firm conviction that “ecology, social aspects, and economy belong together” (source). This sustainable network pursues the vision of being a “guiding force in public and political spheres for the ecological and social transformation of the economy, with heart and mind, competence, and credibility” (source). It now includes more than 600 members representing over 150,000 jobs (source 1 + 2).

Members play a key role, as they “drive forward solutions and concepts for a future-oriented economy through pioneering spirit, diversity, and lively exchange” (source), being part of the necessary transformation and “already shaping the economy of tomorrow – sustainable and future-oriented” (source).

For all these reasons, we are very proud and look forward with motivation to future inspiring collaboration because Green City Solutions is now part of the strong network of the Bundesverband Nachhaltige Wirtschaft!

Air pollution is mostly invisible to people, but it’s a real problem, especially in cities,” said Dr. Katharina Reuter, Managing Director of the Bundesverband Nachhaltige Wirtschaft e.V. “It’s brilliant that the regenerative moss filters cool the ambient air and bind pollutants like fine dust – a valuable contribution to cleaner city air, enhancing neighborhoods and public spaces. We are delighted that Green City Solutions has joined the BNW!” she added.

A healthy future thanks to the transformation of the economy

“With Green City Solutions, we want to demonstrate that ecological and economic sustainability can work together, and we are excited to collaborate with similarly motivated individuals in the association,” commented our CEO and co-founder Peter Sänger on the membership.

Our modular and adaptable fresh air concepts, serving as innovative and nature-inspired systems, provide an ideal supplement to conventional urban green initiatives. The air filters and coolers based on moss offer a measurable enhancement of life and habitat quality in a space-efficient manner. Biotechnology proves to be both more sustainable and energy-efficient compared to conventional air conditioning, demonstrating equivalent performance while surpassing traditional green solutions. Developed in accordance with Eco-Design guidelines, our products generate minimal waste, boasting a 99% recyclability rate, and contribute significantly to three key UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDG 3, 11, 13).

It is, in the truest sense, a “natural” symbiosis of ecology, social aspects, and the economy!”

In light of our new membership, our CEO, Peter Sänger, accepted the invitation to the BNW (Bundesverband Nachhaltige Wirtschaft e.V.) General Assembly 2023. Seizing the opportunity at the State Representation of Bremen in Berlin, he engaged in discussions with CEO Dr. Katharina Reuter about our moss filters designed to alleviate heat islands and pollutant hotspots. Congratulations were also in order: In June, Dr. Reuter received the Federal Cross of Merit on Ribbon from Mayor and Senator for Economics, Energy, and Enterprises, Franziska Giffey, on behalf of Federal President Dr. Frank-Walter Steinmeier, in recognition of her exemplary dedication to our society (source).

We extend our congratulations and eagerly anticipate future motivated and inspired exchanges and collaborations, in alignment with the vision: “Together, bring about more change. With heart, intellect, competence, and credibility” (source) – let us collectively #TRANSform.
