Social Entrepreneurship and Sustainable Innovation in Focus

On May 23, 2025, Green City Solutions’ Managing Director Peter Sänger participated in the inspiring Casual Friday event at Hof Prädikow, organized by the IHK Ostbrandenburg and the Competence Center for Social Entrepreneurship in Brandenburg (Kompetenzzentrum für Soziales Unternehmertum in Brandenburg). The event brought together social entrepreneurs, innovators, and dedicated individuals from the region to exchange ideas on corporate responsibility, social innovation, and sustainable business models.

Social Entrepreneurship as a Driver for Sustainable Urban Development

The central theme of the afternoon and evening was how business and the common good can go hand in hand. Social enterprises such as Green City Solutions, Finizio, Gutshaus der Zukunft Altfriedland, Rofin Gewerbepark Eberswalde and Food Be Good demonstrated in a live interview with Axel Strasser that social entrepreneurship is no longer a niche topic, but rather a key driver for innovation, sustainable business, and social progress in Brandenburg.

Combating Air Pollution and Urban Heat with Moss

Our Managing Director, Peter Sänger, presented Green City Solutions’ innovative moss filter systems. These provide a measurable and sustainable solution to the challenges of extreme heat and severe air pollution in urban areas. Our vision: to make cities more livable and actively contribute to climate protection – with green technology that connects nature and digitalization.

Inspiring Impulses and Networking

The keynote by Thorsten Jahnke (ocial Impact gGmbH) emphasized the importance of recognizing social entrepreneurship as an economic lever with social value. In live interviews, social enterprises shared their projects: from the community-oriented repurposing of former industrial sites, to sustainable circular economy initiatives, and digital solutions to reduce food waste.

Hof Prädikow as a Workshop for the Future

The venue itself – Hof Prädikow, operated by Selbstbau e.G. – was more than just a backdrop: from a manor with a distillery to a vibrant workshop for the future, the event showcased how commitment and innovation can strengthen rural areas and how living and working, tradition and innovation, can go hand in hand.

Together for a Sustainable Future

Once again, Casual Friday proved that business and the common good belong together. Social enterprises like Green City Solutions make a significant contribution to livable cities, sustainable urban development, and social transformation. We thank the IHK Ostbrandenburg, the Competence Center for Social Entrepreneurship in Brandenburg, the team at Hof Prädikow, and all participants for the open exchange and the many valuable insights.

As a pioneer in sustainable urban development and air purification, we are committed to developing innovative solutions for the challenges of urban life. Our moss filter systems are just one example of how technology and nature can work together for a better future.
